Why we are building this
Every dive is a data point the ocean never got to keep.
Divers are in the water more often than scientists are. Between us we see bleaching start, we notice the season a species arrives early, and we are the first to spot the year the sharks stop showing up at a site we have dived for a decade. Almost none of that gets written down anywhere it can be counted.
What you log
A species, a dive site, a date, a depth and a water temperature. You are already recording all five for your own logbook. The Seadex turns each sighting into a tidy record of what was seen, exactly where, and exactly when.
What it becomes together
Thousands of logbooks holding the same five fields is a presence and absence map of marine life over time, at the reef scale, refreshed every time somebody surfaces. That is the shape of data reef monitoring actually needs and rarely has enough of.
Where we want it to go
Our goal is to open this up as a contribution to global ocean health monitoring, aggregated and anonymised, and to work with marine research and conservation groups on getting it into hands that can use it. Your logbook stays yours and stays private by default.

Is SeaLog free?
The app is free to download, with in-app purchases. Creating a free SeaLog account gets you logging straight away, with no ads anywhere. SeaLog Pro is the paid tier that lifts the limits on your logbook and opens the full species life list. Exporting your dives to UDDF, CSV or PDF is never behind the paywall, so leaving is free too.
Which dive computers can SeaLog import from?
Any computer that talks Bluetooth to a phone can be downloaded directly: Shearwater, Suunto, Mares, Scubapro and Uwatec, Oceanic, Aqualung, Cressi, Ratio, Tusa, Deepblu, Divesoft, Seac and more. Older cable-only computers are imported through the file their desktop software exports, usually UDDF. There is a page per model under Dive computer sync with the exact steps.
Can I move my old logbook into SeaLog?
Yes, and it is the first thing most divers do. SeaLog reads UDDF, the standard dive-log exchange format, plus CSV and the exports of Shearwater Cloud, Suunto, Subsurface, DiverLog+, Divelogs.de, PADI, SSI and Oceanic+. Dives arrive with their depth profile, not just a row of numbers.
Does SeaLog work without a signal?
It is offline first by design. Your logbook lives on the device, so it works on the boat, on a liveaboard and in the jungle. It syncs when you get a connection back, and you can export everything to UDDF, CSV or PDF at any time.
Is SeaLog a dive computer?
No, and it does not pretend to be. SeaLog does not run a decompression algorithm and does not replace the computer on your wrist. It is the logbook that takes over the moment you surface, reading what your computer already recorded.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet. SeaLog is on the App Store today for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. The Android build is in the works and the Google Play listing is not live yet.
