How to import dives from a Mares dive computer

Worth knowing

• The single most important fact: Mares has TWO unconnected worlds. Dive Organizer is a Windows desktop program for the cable generation (Nemo, Puck, Puck Pro, Matrix, Smart, Quad, Icon HD, Genius, Horizon), while the Mares App is a Bluetooth phone app for the modern line (Sirius, Puck 4, Quad Ci, Quad 2, Puck Pro EZ) plus retrofitted older models. Neither one syncs to the other.
• There is no Mac desktop software for reading a Mares logbook. Mares' own computer FAQ states the Mac version of Dive Organizer is still 'under development'. Tender for Mac is a firmware flasher for Genius and Horizon only and cannot download dives.
• The Mares App is a closed logbook. It shares dives by QR code between Mares users and does not advertise any file export, so it is a dead end if the goal is a UDDF or DL7 file.
• The one official route to a file is the separate OTA Programmer app, whose Export Logbook function produces an archive in the Dive Organizer format that can be shared off the phone. This is exactly what Mares' own Sirius guide instructs, and it is how a Bluetooth-only Sirius reaches a PC at all.
• Dive Organizer's import entry point is Computer > Import data from file (not the Database menu), and it will ask you to register the computer's serial and owner details the first time it sees a given unit.
• Two different Windows drivers, and the mapping matters: CP210x (Silicon Labs) serves Matrix, Drak, Iris, Puck Pro and the Dive Link clip cable; a Mares-signed usbser CDC driver serves Icon HD, Genius and Horizon. Dive Organizer installs both during setup, so the standalone installers are only a repair path.
• Mares' support page for the Icon HD / Genius / Horizon driver links to https://diveorganizer.computermares.com/..., which fails TLS certificate validation and times out over plain HTTP. The identical 837 KB file is served correctly from www.computermares.com, which is the link recorded here.
• Version numbering is inconsistent between locale storefronts: the US store shows the Web Installer as 2.30 while the Full Setup reads 2.33; the international /en/ pages show 2.33 for both. Take the higher one.
• mares.com is a fully client-rendered single-page app that answers HTTP 200 for URLs that render an in-page 404. Status codes alone cannot validate a mares.com path; every mares.com link here was additionally confirmed by rendering the page and reading its title.
• Dive Organizer depends on Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition. If security software blocks that component during setup the app crashes on launch with a System.Data.SqlServerCe assembly error, and it has to be installed separately from Microsoft.
• Pre-Bluetooth computers (Quad, Quad Air, Smart, Smart Air, Smart Apnea, Puck Pro, Puck Pro +) need the €/$90 Bluelink Pro clip-on dongle to talk to the phone apps, and Mares is explicit that the Bluelink Pro will not transfer data to a PC or Mac. Those models still need the wired Dive Link cable for Dive Organizer.
• Mares runs its real support desk on ticketmares.com rather than mares.com. That knowledgebase is plain server-rendered HTML and is where the drivers, the Sirius import guide and the Dive Organizer troubleshooting articles actually live.
• Knowledgebase attachments (including the Sirius import PDF) are served through expiring signed URLs, so only the article page is safe to link to.
• Mares computers never let you delete the on-device logbook: Mares states this is blocked for safety reasons on every model, so repeat imports will keep re-offering old dives.
