Worth knowing

  • The domain printed in every review and forum thread, mcleanextreme.com, does not resolve in DNS at all. The site now lives at a subdomain of SmartX Technologies, which is why searches keep landing on a dead address.
  • McLean is essentially the divecomputer.eu hardware carried forward: the company acquired rights to that computer and forked its firmware. Owners describe the housing as the original Tecdiving design with new electronics, and both websites are published by the same author account.
  • The site advertises firmware updating from Windows, Android and iOS, but only Windows and Android managers are actually offered for download. There is no iOS firmware manager link.
  • McLean publishes no logging application of its own. It links straight to Subsurface and MacDive, so libdivecomputer is the real transfer mechanism.
  • The Android firmware manager is an unsigned-store APK you sideload, not a Play Store app, which some owners will not be comfortable with.
  • No user manual PDF is published on the current site, unlike divecomputer.eu which still hosts its manual.
