An iPhone cannot open a serial or USB connection to a dive computer. These go through a Mac or PC once, then into SeaLog as a UDDF file.

Worth knowing

  • Two completely different eras under one brand. React Pro and Resource Pro (2009) download over an FTDI USB-serial cable into the Windows-only GCI app. Centauri and Graviton have no data cable at all. They sync over Bluetooth to a phone app.
  • Genesis's single 'Software & Drivers' download is labelled React Pro and Resource Pro only, and it is still a 2013 beta build of GCI. There is no desktop software for Centauri or Graviton, and Genesis says so outright on the product pages.
  • The Centauri is a rebadge of the Crest CR-4 platform. The same hardware Deep 6 sold as the Excursion. Which is why the companion app is published by Eight Oceans/Crest rather than Genesis.
  • There are now two generations of that app, Dive Story and Dive Story Pro, and Genesis links both from its product pages. Check which one your firmware expects before assuming the connection is broken.
  • libdivecomputer treats React Pro as an Oceanic VEO250 device and React Pro White as an Atom2 device, both over serial, while the Centauri is handled by the Deep 6 Excursion Bluetooth LE driver. So Subsurface covers both eras.
  • Fair warning on downloads: the Centauri manual PDF is about 80 MB, which is painful on a boat connection.
