How to import dives from a Cochran dive computer

No Cochran model in the catalog has a radio, so every transfer goes through a cable and a file. Pick your exact model below for the steps that apply to it.

Cochran models that need a cable

An iPhone cannot open a serial or USB connection to a dive computer. These go through a Mac or PC once, then into SeaLog as a UDDF file.

Cochran downloads, drivers and manuals

Dead. Cochran Undersea Technology wound up after founder Mike Cochran died in 2018; there is no vendor site, no downloads page and no way to obtain or license Analyst any more.

Worth knowing

  • Cochran Undersea Technology no longer exists. There is no official downloads page anywhere, and support mail to the old service address bounces.
  • Analyst was Windows-only and needed a registration code issued by Cochran. Since nobody can issue codes any more, copies circulating on file-sharing sites may install but never activate. Treat any 'Analyst download' offer with suspicion.
  • The interface is genuinely RS-232 serial, not USB. On a modern laptop you need a USB-to-serial adapter, and flaky counterfeit adapters are a very common cause of failed downloads.
  • libdivecomputer's Cochran driver covers Commander I, Commander II, Commander TM, EMC-14, EMC-16 and EMC-20H over that serial link, so Subsurface (and MacDive, which uses the same library) is the practical way to get dives off these units today.
  • Anything Cochran made outside those six models. The older Nemesis, Gemini and Lifeguard families. Has no modern software path at all.
